hi ive just sold my s2 tvr and i am looking for a gtv spider i am aware of cambelt , variators , sensors and how important changes at 36k are required is this accurate , could someone advise me of normal biting point for clutch , how high is pedal travel any other relevant help or info would be much appreciated , probably goin g to buy around year 2000 model

Ok, first thing you need to decide is if you're buying a GTV or a Spider? However, I'm guessing you mean a 916 Spider?

36k/3yrs belts and tensioner change refers to the Twinsparks only, recommendation is around 60k for the V6.

There's a buyers guide on alfaowner.com. That will answer all your needs. You're after a phase 2 model, which they made from 1998 - nicer interior than the earlier phase 1 and a few external trim changes too.

Don't be overly fussed by the electric roof - they can be massively unreliable and very very expensive to fix. I can drop the hood quicker than the electric version anyway, it's just the slight inconvenience of having to get out of the car to put it back up.

Had mine for nearly 3 years - feel free to ph me if you want. There's nothing unusual about the pedal travel, feels like a normal car.

I'd agree with that, read of some horrendous costs incurred from fixing them eek
