Hello all,

I have a 51 plate 156 1.6 that overheated the other day, I've had it towed home but just wondered whether anyone could give a rough estimate of how much it is to do a headgasket on one of these and if they know of any Alfa specialists near the Herts/Essex border.

Cheers

Has the gasket been confirmed as dead? Could just be something like the fan or water pump failing without any further damage....(hoping!)

When were the belts and tensioners/idlers replaced...you might as well do them at the same time, you'll be replacing at least the timing belt anyway. Timing belt kits are about £110 now, whole less than £200.

If the head is warped you're looking at about £50 for a skim and pressure test, then the gasket and head bolts, plus labour of say £40 for five hours (book time is 5.5hrs).
