2.4 JTD engine remap
Discussion
Hello all,
Has anyone had any experience of this mod on their Alfas? I know a couple of companies that do it - Angel Tuning and Monza Sport - but would like to hear from anyone that's actually had it done.
So, anyone had it? What's it like day-to-day, performance, economy, etc?
Cheers,
Andy

There is a write up on the Monzasport remap in this months AROC mag.
I personally haven't dared do one. All the remaps take the torque way past the capability of the gearbox, and I can just see something going pop.
Even the NEW 6 speed JTD gearbox has a max torque capability of 295 lb ft, which is what most remappers are claiming they are putting through the OLD five speeder!

You could ask MonzaSport if they have any copies. It obviously says lots of nice things as is the way with the Owners Club mag.
One thing to ask any remappers is how much evaluation they have done. From what I know, anyone with a laptop and the software can just wind things up. The "proper guys" will have tapped the manifolds to monitor exhaust gas temperatures and the like - you don't get any pinking on a diesel like you do on a petrol, so it is much easier to disguise a badly running engine.
A friend who has had his 2.4 done gets a big black smoke cloud over 4,000rpm. It goes like bloody hell, but it does seem to be coal fired...
