Alfa 33's, I need one again.
Discussion
Folks,
I've owned a few of these ugly little fookers, and I know feelings are mixed about them however after seeing and hearing one again
yesterday I need to get another one in place of the good old merc shed. I had quite forgotten how bonkers the boxer engine can be.
Of my last examples, one caught fire, another blew a piston, another one had complete everything failure and finally the last one engine died spectacularly whilst on the M5.
Any pointers? I've checked fleabay and normal outlets. Obviously they aren't worth a lot now but fancy taking another one out in a spectacular fashion
Mine have been all cloverleaf(ves) apart from the first which was a 1.5 but happy with any thing really.

Would love one as a track slag, but then if i was gonna do that i rekon a 75 would be the obvious choice.
My belt tensioner disintegrated in the middle of no-where on the A1 > Edinburgh. Wasnt included in the requested belt change prior to purchase a year previously.

I always look at the 33`s for sale in the classifieds . I had a 1988 1.7 sportwagon ( carb version) which took me all around Europe some years ago . I still have the original service history / manual / guarantee cards etc as well as the three spoke steering wheel on my garage wall to remind me (!) . The rest of the car just rusted away I`m afraid .
What is it about them ; they should be awful , but they`re just great .

This takes me back.....I had a 1988 1.7 (carb) 33 Veloce bought when it was 6 months old, in gun-metal grey with the Zender body kit and 5 spoke Revolution wheels. It had a 3 year Alfa warranty which probably cost them more than the car was worth over that time (gearbox, engine, body work, electrics etc) Had lots of fun in it and would love another. Still have the boot badge (all that remains after it came to a sad end). Never seen another one in that spec
