Can't help, but just for info:
At the preview thing last week, the dealer said they were taking deposits from people who were interested, and those cars would be delivered at the same time as the dealer demo cars, i.e. July. If you didn't like it after you'd driven it, you could cancel and get your deposit back as long as you hadn't chosen an un-re-sellable spec.
If you waited until you'd driven one before you ordered, it would be 12-ish weeks - so test-drive the dealer demo car in July, order, 12-week wait, get your car October-ish.
Not sure if that's any help or not, be interested to hear what other dealers have been saying.

I think they're all guessing at the moment latned. It does seem that there is a lot of speculation and confusion
I hear that Dealers each have to pay £1250 for the privilege of having one, left-hand drive Giulietta for a grand total of seven hours each during June, with RHD demos not arriving until late July (again, no one has any clue what spec the demos would actually be)
That's interesting info there jamieboy... I saw a Dealer's internal Alfa Romeo ordering system at the weekend and they don't have the Giulietta as an ordering option on there at all as yet - would like to know how the Dealer you spoke to could therefore claim to be taking deposits and processing orders to arrive with the demos..?

Don't really know the ins and outs of it.
They've obviously got (or will have, very shortly) some way of spec'ing and ordering demo cars. I guess they'd use the same method to order customer cars at the same time.
The first dealer I spoke was happy to take an order, had all the build/spec codes and was quoting late July/August for delivery, they want a £1000 holding deposit
The other two dealers I have spoken to over the weekend would not take an order until they have a car and it's has been officially launched (not sure what that date is) delivery would be 12 weeks from order unless my spec would be a standard factory build, then it may be a bit quicker.

That mirrors what I was told, but with a £500 deposit.

it seems the first one would just like to grab a grand off whoever they can then follow it up with a load of 'sorry, it's out of our hands' excuses when things don't quite materialise...
Obviously I can't know for sure, but in my case I really don't think that's how this dealer operates. It's not impossible, but given what I know about them I'd say it was pretty unlikely that they'd try to fleece a customer for the sake of holding £500 for 8 weeks.
Sorry jamie, my point perhaps came across as a little too strong
You must know what I mean though..? Money in their pocket is better than in anyone else's and let's face it, they would have the perfect scenario within which to deflect any blame should things take longer than initially suggested
For sure, not all Dealers are wholly ruthless - but we all know that plenty are and even the more honourable ones would prefer cash coming into the business
