Hey all, this is probably going to make me sound thick but never mind. When i check the oil on my 156 (2.0TS) i take out the dipstick, wipe it clean, put it back in and if i pull it out straight away there is nothing on it. However if i leave it in for 30 secs and take it out, the oil is at a satisfactory level. Is this normal? and is there enough oil in the engine? All previous cars i've owned all it took was a quick dip and a wiggle to check the oil.

Are you checking it on level ground?????

A 2.0 TS should ALWAYS have the oil at the top mark!

yeah it is on level ground, and it does measure up to the top mark of the dipstick, but only once you have left it in for 30secs!

Does sound odd. Mine definitely doesn't have this issue; the only time the level would change would be if a) any oil I had just added was coming down through the engine into the sump or b) I had only just turned the engine off and the oil was still settling.

Couldn't swear it's the same for yours, but I reckon on cold as best, otherwise the oil's still draining back into the sump.

also if its cold its more viscous so it won't run back down the stick.
Main thing with a 2.0TS is to remember to check the oil every 500mls. mine guzzled the stuff at an alarming rate.
