This morning i went out to my car GTV V6 with phase 1 security system, i pressed the black button on the red key to open the car which worked fine. My problem is when i went to lock the car from the remote key, nothing happened. First thoughts flat battery, replaced battery(cr2032) still nothing, red light not illuminating either. Car will lock and unlock fine by putting the key into the door, will also still start the car, anybody come across this before? if so did you find a solution?

I don't wish to sound like I'm stating the obvious but firstly check the battery is in the correct way around. Secondly try another battery. The fob wouldn't just fail due to replacing a battery.

Brand new battery fitted correctly.

Do you have a spare? Does that one work? That'll rule out the car side of the system. Maybe it's a dirty contact on the switch or it's got a dry joint in the key, cracked solder or something. I'd pull it to bits, but that's just what I do with everything.

Don't have another remote key, just have this one a red one without remote and a brown one. when i press the rubber button the red light does not come on, brand new battery fitted, which is why i thought it was the key fob rather then something with the car.

Take the key apart and check for broken joints.

If that fails there's a chap on ebay who repairs them for about £30, pretty fast turnaround too from what I hear.

Edit: Here he is... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alfa-156-147-GT-Red-and-Blac...
