Rear Springs

Today whilst cleaning my car, GTV 3.0 V6 i decided to crawl under it to polish the stainless steel silencer. I noticed both the rear springs were rusty and that the nearside bumpstop had dropped into the spring. Does anyone think this needs sorting immediately or is it still safe to drive on until funds allow me to uprate the rear suspension? I do not get any banging, knocking or any other problems with the rear, the car drives fine and if i hadn't crawled underneath to polish the silencer then i would not even have known about it. All advice welcome.

It'll be fine, the bump stop will still work in its lowered position

I realise they need replacing, all i am asking is how soon? As i said no crashing or banging so will they be ok for now or should i replace immediately? I want to uprate the rear suspension when funds allow so i am hoping i will be ok to drive as it is for now 2 months max.

Probably be fine if there is no damage, rust will most likely be just surface and not a cause for concern. Bump stop, as has been siad, will still work if its in place. When you upgrade do consider polybushing its very worthwhile on the 916 models. I admire your attention to detail polishing the silencer box though.

Thats what i wanted to hear. I intend to get the rear end polybushed when funds allow, which is why i don't want to spend money on oe springs and bumpstops now. Silencer is stainless so i thought why not give it a buff up.
