Advice on pricing our Alfa 147 for sale
Discussion
Well, we have had the Alfa 147 for almost 2 years, but we have moved to Singapore and there is no point storing it (like we have my 911) and watching it depreciate as we have no idea when we will come back to the UK but it will be at least 2-4 years.
We have an advert up on AT and here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2063842.htm
It was priced a bit speculatively, based on cars near her Mum's in Yorkshire (where it is on the drive) but since there has been no interest, it is clearly too much.
Yes, I am sure the advert could do with some more time spending on it, but I think the biggest issue is price and so I am wondering if you guys had some advice...?

Thanks for your input guys!

I would agree that the value that it is up for is strong, but this is a special edition, '08 plate with average miles, which would appear to be retailing at 8k+ if you do a countrywide search. Don't get me wrong, we are more than willing to drop the price but 6k looks mental, compared to the adverts on AT, so I am genuinely interested as to what you are comparing our car to and whether we are looking at the wrong thing!?
I would hope so... But, as above, I will wait and see unless we have something very wrong.
So, going on the other adverts, what would you guys hope to achieve (it doesn't have to be a super quick sale, just no point in leaving it there unused); something like advertise for 7.5k and hope to pocket 7k or 7,250? Is that unreasonable? A narrowed search says that you are paying 7-8k for an older car, with more miles, albeit from a dealer, though we still have some manufacturer warranty left, so does buying from a dealer give much more peace of mind?

The mere mention of 'moved to Singapore' would have me thinking 'scam' I'm afraid, never mind it being overpriced.
I know what you mean, but there isn't too much we can do about it and I don't think the AT advert makes any reference to it. The issue is that when they call the number, my brother-i-L or Mother-i-L will deal with it. I know it sounds a bit dodgy, but how else can we sell it? Getting one of them to drive it into a dealer for a bid, I guess?!mad4amanda said:
2 minutes on autotrader website vsays your way overpriced!
£7250 from a dealer in a stronger alfa colour ...... id say £6k max privately

No, it warrants a higher price than that. So, going on the other adverts, what would you guys hope to achieve (it doesn't have to be a super quick sale, just no point in leaving it there unused); something like advertise for 7.5k and hope to pocket 7k or 7,250? Had similar scamming when I advertised our Cooper S on Autotrader. I just fed them a load of *****. Surely there must be a way for Autotrader to filter emails to sellers - as some people must still be falling for these scams - otherwise why are the scammers still scamming?
Really does wind me up!
