Looking at a new daily driver (well, weekend cruiser) to replace a tweaked Audi S3 and to be parked alongside a track prepped mx5 and Alfa GT 3.2s keep on catching my eye.
Fuel consumption is not a massive concern (I’m getting around 450km out of a tank at the moment), the diesel was never sold here and I want a V6 soundtrack, but not a 147 GTA as for some reason I can get a newer GT with much lower mileage for much less than the equivalent GTA, and I’ve already done the hot hatch thing – basically don’t try and talk me out of it is what I’m saying
All the usual cambelt/waterpump questions are pretty much dealt with and have read up on them. My questions are more on modability.
With the 147 I know a Q2 diff is essential. Is this the same for the GT? And can the 147 Q2 be fitted to the GT if so?
Any decent aftermarket exhausts to unlock the lovely sound or should I go custom?
Finally, I’ve gone through an replaced all bushes in the S3 with poly as they have needed replacing. Is a similar upgrade available for the GT?

Gearbox on the GT is identical, so yes you can fit a Q2 and I would highly recommend it - if only as insurance to stop the standard exploding!
Not sure about the exhausts - but pretty sure there are many options to choose from.
I had the rear suspension of my old 156 polybushed and it made a hugh difference (at least compared to the old worn our rubber bushes) so I guess the kits are still available.
Go for it I would say

One of the best looking Alfa's ever in my opinion. Do fit a Q2 it will make an emormous amount of difference and, as has been said, increase longevity to the diff. As for exhausts you could look at Ragazzon. I havebeen very happy with the quality and the fit of these systems over the years on a few Alfa's and Fiat's. They can be had from UK distributors and are not too loud unless you dispense with the centre box. Good luck with the purchase.
