Alfa 147 rust below rear screen/above wiper

Just spotted a rust patch on the lip below the rear window glass. I have spotted water sitting there before, but upon cleaning it it revealed the pain has come away and there are the first signs of rust.
Tried to get it sorted under warantee and the inspection concluded that the 'rear glas could have been removed'. The reason for this was some marks in the glue used to secure the glass to the boot lid. I was wondering if it is common for the factory glass to have small streaks in it, or has my rear screen definitly been removed?

p.s. was thinking its probably easier to just get it sorted myself for £40 than go through the alfa warantee route?
