MCSF on a 20v 156
Discussion
I have a 2003 '53' 20v 156.
I have a problem with it that seems to be getting worse with time, which is that the trip computer will throw an MCSF error (the error code on the ECU is always over-boost related) the turbo will cut-out and I get dumped into so-called "limp-home" mode.
It normally happens during the winter when it gets cold, although it has happened once during the summer on a very wet day. On the whole though it does seem to be temperature-dependent and normally seems to happen when I put my foot down after cruising at a constant speed for a while.
As ever, re-starting the engine brings the turbo back on-line and a few more re-starts clears the MCSF error from the trip computer.
I have had the turbo out to be ultra-sound cleaned in case there were some carbon deposits stopping the actuator from feathering the turbo vanes. I thought it might be the MAF sensor but the car doesn't run roughly.
Has anyone experienced anything similar who could suggest a possible solution.
Thanks in advance.
Andy
