In view no.Just to add - Fiat X1/9 for £5K in that shizzy colour... you would need your head read if you were going to buy it ! If you are looking at £5K spend.. look for a MK1 MR2 that has been restored. It's better looking, more reliable, faster and much better handling! I know as I have owned two of them, both Coupe and T-Bar

Nice car, but worth more like 3k, sure a Merde is more reliable but not close to being the car the X1/9 is.
You're kidding. Wasn't the MR2 developed by Lotus? It also looks better, has a better engine and gearbox and is better built. Most people looking for an X1/9 will specifically be after an X1/9, not some modern Japanese thing that happens to share a similar mechanical layout, so whatever the Merde's charms are are irrelevant.
It's like recommending someone looking for a Lotus Elan to consider a Mazda MX5 instead. You wouldn't, so don't.

Although, I partially agree with your comment, the MR2 was originally developed as a concept back in the 1970's but not put into production until late 1984/85 on the MK1a ending in 1990 with the MK1b. It's as classical as the former and has cult status in its own right, especially the SuperCharger. It's like recommending someone looking for a Lotus Elan to consider a Mazda MX5 instead. And... please, don't call it the Merde. This is England.. NOT France. Furthermore, if you have never experienced the MK1 you can't knock it. I've had an X1/9 and although its a pretty car, I found it to be a complete dogs dinner compared to the AW-11
