well I've been well and truely bitten by the desire to get a GTV V6 - however I'm sturggling to reconcile the small engine with the truely horrendous mpgs... to explain I currently run a Y2K SS Camaro which is a 5.7litre (hence the small engine coment) and I'll average 20/22 if I drive like a nun I'll crack 30 on a run yet from what I'm hearing the GTV will struggle to better this????

That being said I do love the looks and the interior of an equivalent age GTV does look lovely... decisions decisions

In general my V6 will average mid 20's, driving like a nun low 30's best ever being 34mpg on a trip back from Great Yarmouth, my car has been remapped and produces more power and torque lower down..smile

Nah, there's far worse economy-wise than the V6 for the level of performance you get. It's far from being some kind of petrol-sipping-saint, (much as above, I average mid to high twenties mpg), but equally it's hardly ruinous.

High twenties if on a motorway cruise/commute.... think I got ~24mpg using our one from Brighton to London a few times on the commute, lots of traffic as you'd expect. When I used to commute over various Devon/Somerset A and B roads... well, you can't resist the sound, so that was more mid teens, marginally better than our 850 T5 at the time.

Mine does around 18 mpg on suburban roads, it's certainly a thirsty engine. Definitely not for commuting!

It's incredible how the design has held up if you think of the alternatives at the time: BMW E36, Mazda MX6, Ford Probe.
Corrado and Fiat Coupe still looking good though!

It's not a car to buy if you're at all concerned about fuel consumption, nor is it particularly cheap for parts. But if you can get past that they really are performance bargains. Give it a decent exhaust so it can clear its throat properly and it sound glorious. Interior feels special too, with all the dials cowled and angled towards the driver, though the seats don't offer much lateral support under hard cornering.

I'm on my third GTV and despite the disaster that was my second one I still wanted, no needed, another. Don't worry too much about mileage - the V6 can take it - just get one that's been well looked after.
