Got my first due in early May, and want to know if the GT's gonna cut it.

I guess the boot will be big enough to handle all the kit, but I wondered if anyone can offer experiences/advice regarding baby seats in the rear compartment.

Has anyone had a good experience with a certain brand? For example, to make it easier with a 3-door, I was considering a Maxi-Cosi on an Isofix base, which would then link easily to the pram - any pointers/comments to this?

Thanks - any help is appreciated.

Cheers
P.

I'll try to help here as we were in the same boat last year when my daughter was born in April. My missus had an Alfa GT Cloverleaf on lease which was sorted before the pregnancy and was a lovely car and we used it right up until 4 weeks ago when we sent it back. We had MaxiCosi Isofix bases in both our cars (mines a 159) and although it was far easier in mine it wasn't impossible in the GT. To be honest we switched the airbag off and had the base in the front passenger seat for most of the time and used the seatbelt to strap the base in and it felt almost as secure as the Isofix in the rear. The only problem then is any other adult than the driver will need to sit in the rear. There are more practical cars than the GT but we made it work fine albeit with my 159 doing most of the family days out.

Hope that helps

Thanks - good to know.

We're trying to sell our pad at the moment, too, which adds to the dilemma. We're in a fairly big flat at the mo, but it only has one allocated parking space. As such, we get by on one car, as I work in the same town as our home, and a second car would simply never get used (her car got written off by white van man back in 2008, and we've never needed to replace it, which is nice!)

If we get to shift the flat and move to a house away from the current town (which would be the plan), I will get a second car anyway, as I'll need the GT to commute myself.

As such, in the meantime, the child seat will need to go in the back, as me'n'her need the two front seats.

Hope I didn't make it sound like it was only suitable in the front as we have used the base in the rear and it does fit well it's just a little bit harder to lean in and remove the seat but perfectly do-able! Good luck with everything

Can't really comment on the ISOFIX etc, but I do recall when having a 3 door 147 it really was a pain in the erse getting the nippers in and out.

Hi I have an Alfa GT jtd which I have owned for 3 years since my daughter was born. Was determined not to let a new addition spoil my love of all things Alfa.

I have no problems using a maxi cosi car seat and now using a Britax as she has outgrown the first stage seat. Boot is decent and can get a Quinny Buzz in know problem.

Treat yourself. I use Jamie Porter Alfaworkshop for maintenance and they have good website with loads of buyer/maintenance information.

You beauty! As it happens, I have just settled upon a Quinny Buzz 3 with Maxi Cosi seat, so your post was very useful. (I already have the GT, of course...)
