I pod connectivity - Alfa Brera

I am considering getting a Brera. Do they have the facilty to connect an Ipod or other MP3 player as standard ?

If you get one with Blue&Me they have a USB port in the glovebox. I just stick a memory stick in it. You can use an iPod, but as I understand it you need to reformat the tracks to a Windows friendly format as Blue&Me is a Microsoft product. It also provides Bluetooth for your mobile so it's well worth having. It'll even read your text messages out (from certain phones).

Mine is fitted with Blue & Me and works really well with my iPhone, but I did need to buy an interface connector to enable the car to read the contents of my phone. I don't think you'd need this with an Android phone though.

Is this for music, or for phone functions? Mine's a on a 56 plate and works fine with my iPhone4, but I don't use the phone for music. I am on a recent version of Blue&Me though (think it's 5.5).

Hi Rick

I connect the iphone (3gs), through a lead to the socket in the glovebox to play music. I use the blue tooth connection for the phone functions. I can control either through the steering wheel controls.

Going off topic slightly. I want to change the ICE set up in my 2.4 Brera for the one which incorporates the Alfa sat nav system. Would the swap be simple?

Apparently a swop isn't possible as the sat nav unit is a completely different size to the standard radio. TBH, it's no major loss, the system isn't great anyway. Much better with a normal stand alsone sat nav.
