Giulietta can make things betta!

Hello fellow tifosi,
I am a long-time Alfa fan, since I was a kiddo, and now the chance to own and report on a new Alfa is just within my grasp. Alfa Romeo are running a competition on Facebook and I made it through to the finalists with my video entry. The winners will be decided by FB votes and I was well in the lead in my category until yesterday. Now, however, I am trailing behind a guy who has a text only entry but obviously a lot of friends on Facebook. (Next part is taken from my blog so I don't have to type it out again!) Alfa will give 1.6-litre Giulietta Turismos to eight of the finalists with the most votes, for a year, and in return the eight must then report, blog, and tweet on life with the car over the following 12 months. That is my idea of fun, because as a long-time wannabe car journo, any car I've ever driven has turned into a road-test, in my mind at least. I have been waiting for a competition like this all my life!
It's even better that it's A.R. running the competition because if you are into cars, then you will surely have hankered after an Alfa at some stage. I know it's widely quoted, and I'm not one to pay heed to his opinion, but Jeremy Clarkson reckons you're not a true petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa Romeo and I do think there's something in that. I still remember the impact a mate's father's black Alfa 33 made on me as a kid back in the early '90's, it was a great looking car and a lot sportier than any of it's contemporary rivals at the time. A few years after that, my father took me for a spin in a borrowed 3.0-litre V6 164 and we still talk about the sound from that engine and the lines of the car to this day, it was a cracking machine. These lingering memories have put Alfa Romeo on a bit of a pedestal for me I suppose, it's a very evocative brand with some legendary models in its history so to drive one, even if only for the year, would be fantastic.
So, I am unashamedly canvassing here for votes since that is the name of the game and I reckon if anyone will help me out, it'll be Alfisti with the same passion for the marque as I have. I'm not going to ask you to vote indiscriminately for me just on the strength of my post, what I am asking is that you check out my video, and if you think it is worthy of winning against the other Text entries in my category, then please vote for me. To vote you must click on the Like button under my name. I am the guy wearing the red cap!
Incidentally, if I am lucky enough to get my mitts on the Giulietta for the year, I will be blogging, tweeting and video reporting on it so you will be able to follow my progress with the car and see how it is going.

Have you driven one or own one? The model that is being offered is a 1.6 JTDm2 Turismo. I'm eager to hear how people with this model are getting on. I've never wanted a diesel until about five months ago when my mileage increased dramatically as did the price of petrol meaning too many expensive trips to petrol pumps for my liking...

The Vantage is a beaut! Well wear! Do you post on boards.ie by any chance? A poster there had, I think, one in the same colour. Do you drive it often?
Thank you, no I don't post on boards.ie, never heard of it, mainly lurk and post occasionally on PH and Alfaowner. I use it as much as I can/want to, did 7000mile in the last year. Cars need proper exercise, it's a sin to leave them cooped up in a garage

I have 'liked' you. Someone put this in The Lounge to really push the vote up? I want to see pics if you win it!
Thanks Esseesse! Can anyone post in the lounge? Part of the conditions of the prize is that winners must report on the car so I'll be blogging, tweeting and videoing life with the car if I'm lucky enough to get through993Targa said:

Absolutely, when I see second hand exotica like your Aston for sale with two or three thousand miles after a few years, I just wonder, what is the point in having an amazing driving machine and barely driving it. Good on yaI use it as much as I can/want to, did 7000mile in the last year. Cars need proper exercise, it's a sin to leave the cooped up in a garage
