Not sure if it's the awful roads that have tuned me in to the problem, but I swear the rear suspension on my GT is sounding rather crashy & boomy, if that makes sense.

It seems sudden, though - almost as if someone's replaced the suspension components with a solid rear axle overnight! It seems to skip over bumps with a loud thud, and generally unsettled. I have the 18 inch wheels, for reference.

Could my shocks or something similar have expired overnight???? Or have I just tuned in to a noise that I hadn't noticed before?

Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds exactly like my 156. I was told by the Alfa Workshop that it was the suspension bushes and/or tie rod that had worn out.
Luckily not a horribly expensive thing to fix.

As above probably rear suspension bushes, check the wear of your rear tyres also.

As others have said tyres make a huge difference in ride quality so check them.

Otherwise bushes are probably the next culprit.
