156 battery drain
Discussion
2000(W) 156 2.0 ltr TS Selespeed.
Two fuses under column right marked 'service'. Right most fuse circuit drawing 150 milliamps ignition off - parked. Can't explain why, fully charged battery won't start car after couple days stood. Milliamp drain doesn't equate - tell me about it - have on good authority rev counter fault. Told rear light illuminated dim ignition off, related and common - not issue here though. Go figure.
Anyone have knowledge of this fault? All else as should be. Looking for rev counter fault confirmation or definitive other answer please? Don't need suggestions or guesses thanks. Been there done 'em, lol.

No lamp illumination. Rev counter appears to work as it should.
Yes done battery drain pulling every fuse individually. Time served sparky on the job.
Battery good - all three of them, lol. Charging back up with Blue Point computerised charger too!
When you say rear light thing does exist, are you confirming this is a rev counter replacement issue then?
TIA

No it's nothing so simple. As said, tests run, fault identified 150 milliamp drain at 'service' fuse - draining fully charged battery to prevent starting after two days standing.
150 milliamps is not / should not be enough to cause such drain so we are stumped as to why battery drained significantly from small load in time frame it does.
Alfa specialist told of rev counter / rear light issue. I'm interested to know if common to others and if anyone can explain if so.

If the bulb warning light is on with no light turned on - then go off when turned to sidelight position, it is most likely the light out sensor chip, found on the rev counter.... it may or may not manifest in other ways, such as the back drivers side lamp not illuminating when switched on - but a twist of the bulb and it is fine.... I had this a while ago on mine... as soon as it started with loosing life just swapped out the rev counter - two minute job and is fine now...

No bulb warning light illuminated when off. No rear light illuminated. Will change rev counter regardless thanks.Chris Type R said:
On my GTV the boot closed microswitch failed. This caused the boot light to stay on & drain the battery. Should be easier to check on a 156 than a GTV
Checked thanks. To be clear, no stone unturned. The drain is on the service fuse - but no clue what that fuse supplies that leaks 150 milliamps when parked. So far it appears the only thing, and best advice, is to change the rev counter.
