Cant find a great deal of information regarding these on the net or the forums.
Just wondering if they had any major issues?
What are they like to drive?
I'd be looking at ones with high milegae, 80k or so. Is an 80k mile GT a bad idea?
I think that they suffer from the same issues as 156s. Make sure all the electrics work, there are no oil leaks, and try and check the suspension turning in circles, and going over speed humps. Also check the coolant tank for traces of oil.Just wondering if they had any major issues?

I bought a 3.2 75k miler a week ago. Quite nice and solid. I've already had to have a suspension arm changed

Jamie Porter has a GT buyers guide on his website - http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_gt_guide.shtml
My experience so far has been good. My previous BMW (e39 535i) was dull to drive in comparison to my diesel GT.
Apart from both door handles snapping off (a common problem with these and easily fixed) all has been well.
It is underrated car in my opinion and you don't often see them about, which appeals to me.
The oil burners lump also feature in a couple of rep-mobiles such as Saabs
and Vauxhalls
so can't be all bad.

Go out a try one would be my advice.

Cant quite stretch to the V6 sadly! Would most likely get the 2.0 petrol, though i've heard good things about the diesel. I dont really understand torque so dont understand how the diesel has nearly as much torque as the V6 but is slightly slower to 60 than i would like (9.6ish).
With the diesel it's all about mid-range (40-70mph)I'm actually surprised how well it goes. Mine is the 150bhp version, but there is also a 170 bhp version of the same engine. Both engines can be re-mapped for a few hundred quid.

I've got the Diesel and it goes surprisingly well it just sounds crap.
However my 6th gear started jumping out of gear today anyone else had this problem on a GT D.
Oh dear! However my 6th gear started jumping out of gear today anyone else had this problem on a GT D.
Mine did this in third and forth. I sent the 'box away and they said it was repairable, but the costs would add up to more than a good second hand gearbox, as fifth and sixth were heading the same way
. I opted for the latter (£700) and fitted it myself. Apparently it is not a common problem on these gearboxes as they are quite strong (they put mine down to the previous owner being a bit heavy handed!). A brand new 'box can be had for £1500. You may just need a synchro, but it's still a fairly labour intensive job!Alfa specialists Autolusso are quite well regarded, but I have no experience of them myself (Although they did quote me £600 to repair mine) Not sure what spec your car is, but they can add Q2 at the same time

fortunately its still under warranty I just wondered if it was a Alfa problem. Are there any adjustments on the linkages.Mine did this in third and forth. How do the cars deal with the miles? I was looking at C-Class Coupes but there are a lot of concerns about rusty bodies and the GT seems like an alternative. There are only 2 real options in my area, one a 65k petrol, the other an 80k diesel - I am only going to do 4k ish miles in a year so wont be piling on the miles but would be interested to hear how they go at higher mileages. Obviously a german diesel will do 150k without a second thought - is the alfa comparable?
Also, whilst on this topic, what is a decent yearly maintenance? I am used to Porsche maintenance of £1k plus but would be pleased if I could get a second car which I could sort in the year for less than £500.
Many thanks

Should think a GT diesel will be suffering exactly the same issues as a 156 diesel at the same mileage - i.e. not much to deal with around 80K (perhaps radiator) but once you're passing 100K then time for a new clutch, maybe gearbox, every single damn bit of the suspension...
Depends where it's done all of those miles.100k on motorways is going to be alot softer on suspension/clutch/gearbox than 50k on back street speed humps and potholes.

Sounds like the answer is probably that it does not hold the mileage as well as the offerings from the germans!
Dunno, my previous E39 BMW felt like driving an old mattress around after 160,000 troublesome miles. My Alfa has done 55,000 miles but still feels like a brand new car. Granted some bits of trim (such as exterior door handles) could be made of stronger cheese, but generally the mechanical bits seem pretty robust.
