Where do the fresh air pipes route from the front of the car please on the earlier model car? I don't recal seeing anything in front of the rad behind the grill so I am wondering if its anything to do with he mesh around the indicators?

Where ever it is, I have fresh air getting into the drivers footwell from somewhere that the heater offsets at local road speeds but gets a bit chilly going down the motorway.

I found a split in the hose to the fresh air vent which has been fixed and I know it's not the fan assisted air vent in the side of the footwell.

Does anyone know please or have any suggestions?

Thanks

Graham

I had a look at how the fresh air gets into the inner wings this afternoon and its a combination of the indicator grills and the main front grill. How it is getting into the drivers side footwell is less clear!

It could be the back of the vent but it only happens at motorway speeds and that isnt the best time to stick your hand and arms down low and up into the dashboard!

Suggestions welcome or looking at the forecast for the weekend, its cold feet for me all the way to Beaulieu!

My money is on the rubber seal around the door opening on the tight curve below te bottom hinge of the door iyswim.

When travelling, drop your hand down to that corner, on mine the tight curve takes away the rubbers sealing ability and there's a terrific draft !

Thanks Pete, I will check that. Its certainly speed related. I thought I had sorted the heater. It doesnt cook your legs like the Stag heater but it was good and toasty until I had a fastish drive down the motorway.

That's a good call from my experience too.
It can be refreshing on a hot day, but damned cold on a cold one.
Not an uncommon fault I should think as mine has done it for as long as I can remember.

Well, I found one (probably the main one) of the cold air leaks this morning - at the back of the fresh vent in the car. That has stopped a lot of the air. There is a small amount coming in from the rubber seal but very negligible. more feels cold than a draught.

One more found as well but off to look through the search function as I can remember someone having the same thing.

You've probably checked but have you closed the fresh air vent in the depths of the footwell?

Do I remember someone saying that there is an invisible vent under the side wall carpet by your right calf?

Not invisible, it's like the old Cortina swivel ball vent with a knob in the centre, turn to close off.

Thanks for the suggestion but that works well but is firmly shut. This does come from the side panel though.

I can remember someone posting about an access panel or something on the side that they blocked in but the search is down and I have given up on using the google search option!
