I saw an interview with a London taxi driver on tv yesterday. Seriously where is he supposed to go? There’s lots of reports of people peeing (and probably worse) in bushes but surely it’s time to open the loos again?

Coronavirus: When will public toilets be reopened? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52774794

I live in a picturesque village popular with tourists. Our parish council closed the toilets because some youngsters were apparently smoking & drinking in them. How is that affected by the virus?

Have you seen the latest ‘expert advice’ posted on the BBC website.

“There needs to be at least two minutes between people using the toilet.
You should flush with the seat down - a lot of people don't bother with this but the spray from the toilet generates an aerosol and there is coronavirus in bodily fluids.
Once you flush, then you need to wipe down the loo. You need either disinfectant wipes in the loo, or you need a spray with some disposable towels.
You also need a fresh hand towel for everyone drying their hands so you're not re-contaminating from the usual hand towel that hangs in the bathroom.
You want a pile of disposable towels and you want a large quantity of soap available in the bathroom. All the surfaces need to be wiped down.
Even then, remember it's not a risk-free zone. Probably the toilet paper is going to be contaminated - you are definitely taking a risk by doing this.”

Not sure if originally posted as a bit of a joke but this does mean that there is an additional lockdown constraint on people like ex bowel cancer sufferers, IBS etc. So not on the vulnerable list but still restricted on trips out. Even walking in the countryside is tougher now when previously including a pub on the route would solve any issues.

No it’s certainly no joke. You’re right about IBS etc.

So there's another "double standard" for the general public and schools rolleyes

Local Facebook group suggests it is quite stinky at the beach as everyone is going behind the beach huts! (Why they don't go in the sea like everyone else I don't know!)

I don't know how they can think about opening campsites because the toilet and shower blocks are usually grim at the best of times! I suppose they will probably open but with no facilities.

Never worked in an office? clearly most of the country do need instructions in how to use the toilet!

In fairness to them, universities were having a ‘how to use a toilet’ campaign a few years back because students were struggling to piss and poo in the hole.

Who the hell is going to clean a toilet with other peoples piss and st on it? Surely that’s more of a risk? Where do they find these nutters?

Another example of how this "new normal" concept is sinister and damaging. If we have to live with this virus forever (so forget a vaccine for the moment) then crazy notions such as no public toilets, two metre rules at public events and so on have to be forgotten. We cannot have real life AND social distancing; the two are incompatible. We just have to get on with it for the sake of our basic humanity, including the Great British Loo.

I think you will find many local councils have closed and demolished many public conveniences way before this pandemic due to anti-social behaviour, the euphemism for the dregs of society and their filthy habits!?
