Absolutely appalling! I am sure that some of you have read the Guardian story regarding how HR Owen underpay cleaners! Disgusting! Car dealers are the lowest of the low!

That is pretty bad from HR Owen.

You would have thought their [obviously non-existent] PR team would have wanted to avoid this at all costs as it’s exactly what the media like to report and what people like to get angry about.

'A spokesman for HR Owen’s head office said Lopez, who has cleaned the showrooms for seven years, and Valencia Bolanos, who joined him five years ago, are not employees and their services are provided by Templewood Cleaning Services.

The suspension came two days after they voted to walk out on strike after their employer refused requests for an increase to their £7.50-an-hour minimum wage.'

Your thread title is misleading. They are not employed by HR Owen and never have been the car dealer has not refused anything.

So you can't differentiate between one firm and an entire industry? I think that makes you a bit silly.

I've pointed out in this thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... where you went wrong, and it's because you obviously haven't got the comprehension skills to read an understand the whole article.

So HR Owen or the Malaysian company that owns the group could not have employed them directly??

Why would they? Most companies employ external agencies to clean. It's big business and people specialise in doing it.

Their complaint is with their employed not HR Owen.

Seems to suggest they were suspended for claiming hours they hadn't actually worked?

They also aren't employees of HR Owen so I'm honestly confused why the whole article seems to be one of whacking the car dealer rather than the employer confused

I have done some work for prestige car dealers, I know what they are like! I know how they treat staff! The huge EGO is also a bit sad.

You don;t seem to have a clue what you are talking about. Justice your ignorant rant about insurance in the last thread you started!

Read it again, this time use finger spaces and if you are struggling with the long words ask a grown up for help.

so the agency don't want them working a living wage? I bet the agency probably make £10-15/hr off them. would be good of the dealer to just hire them personally and give them all that money instead.

No you don't. And your inability to understand individual firms and an entire industry speaks volumes about you.
