I have a quite substantial amount of retirement fund in Oz and wanting to draw down after qualified for retirement age. I don't have an Oz bank account anymore. Has anyone opened an Oz bank account from the UK so that Sunsuper now Australian Retirement Trust , can pay into a oz account and I can then send on to a uk oz $ account and exchange ?. Surely there must me a simply way ?. They won't post me an aussie cheque directly only electronic transfer.

I have a small amount in an Aussie superanuation account and they won't send it electronically, only send me a cheque direct. I had to jump through hoops to get them to do that. I'm with BT Super so it looks like they all make their own rules.

Have you tried Revolut or similar. Each currency appears in the local format so can be seen as 'local'?

It shouldn’t be a problem to have it sent to a Uk account.
All they would need is the IBAN number etc. that’s how I had mine sent a few ago.

Other question, although I’m assuming you have, are you a perm resident or citizen? The qualifying age rules are different. I managed to stay in Oz for 9 years without becoming a permie so draw down rules didn’t apply.

Subsequently became a Perm resident after my 3 year exclusion but not before I withdrew my super.

I got HSBC in the UK to set me up with an AUD denominated account for share-based payments from Aus. Might work?
