Hi All

Looking for your help please. I recently bought a 2015 F10 BMW 520 with 26k on the clock. It will need its second service in 4k and so far its had full BMW main dealer service history.

Should I continue with main dealer service, I guess it costs more but could help with the RV?

Or do I go indy? If so does anyone know a good BMW Indy service centre in the Cardiff area?

I guess you get asked this by newbie's all the time but appreciate your help.

Thanks
James

If I were you I would get a price from Sytner Cardiff as I’ve found them very good.

When I’ve got prices from then on a 325 (brake fluid) and 335 (oil and brake fluid) they were pretty much the same as my Indy. So I used them.

For my M3 I use Forza West now in Caldicot as they are excellent and at the high price of M services (Inspection 2) a lot cheaper plus I know the main guy Stuart really knows his M cars and naturally knew how long he’d need the car for the service.

I’ve not used any other Indy’s in the Cardiff area.

Had a major service carried out on my BMW 530D F10 a few months ago, £500 with them or £380 from Local indie. With the easy courtesy car or collection, BMW stamp etc I stuck with them again.

Just for the love of of God, don't let them wash it. Never turns out well for me when I forget to tell them....

Have you checked whether the car has s Service Pack on it? Any main dealer should tell you.

The pack transfers with the car and at the time would have been about £425 for 5 years/60K so would take in the second service.

Not sure why anyone wouldn’t have taken the option at that time.

I checked on there online tool (https://www.bmw-service.co.uk) and according to this there is no service plan.

I will look it this though, if the costs are competitive then it certainly makes sense to stick with a main dealer.

Thank you all.

I managed to get a service pack added to mine retrospectively, when i bought a 2015 F30 in mid 2016. Was an absolute no brainer for the cost. Not sure if this is still possible, but you should look into it.

Our F11 520d has just had its second service at 30k miles, Harry Fairbairn quoted £680! Which I queried and it was reduced to £490. Still a small fortune for a service.
