Leigh - I installed a second 14 inch fan on my rad and used a 'revotech' controller. They are adjustable, the rad top hose fits on either side of this sealed unit - with no temp bit to fit inside the pipe..

Got one of them controllers as well. Neat. Not sure if it works because I could not make my mind up whether to run it off the battery direct and risk a flat battery of off the existing wiring and have to mess around with the fuse board and put on another fault. So its all on a manual switch at the moment.

Thanks leigh.

Bought some that I was told were up to scratch, best not dwell there too much. They drag power and you can hear it on tick over big time. Unable to confirm off the seller as to cfm or by manufacture. Best I could manage was measuring around 30 mph (??? I think) at the rear of the fan. They are butted up tight to the rad with no cowl. Measured towards the outer of the fan. I should have realised but there is not much going on around 2/3 of the way out from the spindle. They are straight blades. I have fitted a circuit breaker instead of a fuse as the fuse body was deforming.

Well the plan on mine is to use the existing relay and fuse to drive a relay and fuse board with seperate fuses and relays for each Fan.

I have curved blades, they are only 12" fans with 10" blades. but they are the same as the single one fitted to the early griff, and I have two

Well hit a few snags.
The t pice i made.

Did not work.
Also I had to mod the brackets.

See bracket on Rad

See orignal Brackets.

As the ali bottom brackets stick out more than the orignal ones, So I can to cut a whole on the bracket.

Im going to re-thread the bleed conection this weekend to 1/4 BSP pipe fitting, as this will be easier to get conectors for.

I also cut away a bit of my front spliter on the inside so the Rad will fit with the brackets on, as its just too much of a pain to get the brackets on with the ran in place.

Hopefully will be worth it.

but unless you have a lot of time, I'd stick to the orignal ones.

Also this one has not got the mounting holes for the oil cooler, so I still need to re-mount that.

All working well.

Took over 15mins from cold to get hot enough for the fans to come in.

its now running at about 80 on a run and 85-90 in traffic and when hammering it.

and thats with just one fan,

Its cools the rad very quick, if you stop and leave the fan on via ignition on, the rad is stone cold in under in miniute.

shame it's so hidden.

Still need to make the brackets for the oil cooler, this should make it run even cooler.

Well the bottom bracket is a slot fit so should allow a bit of give. but It was very very tight, so don't think I can fit in any rubber. plus its mounted to the fibreglass, and that sould not move much, else the gell coat would crack.
Mounted on the fibreglass doesn't sound right.

I'm also surprised about the s/s plate on the back of the rad. It restricts the flow of air through the rad, means that all of the air flow has to be through the fans (a further restriction,) is a conductor and creates a very awkward route for the air to flow when the fans are on. To allow good air flow and prevent heat soak these cowlings are usually: made out of a light weight insulator, set about a foot back from the rad. (pyramid shaped) and with one way valves/flaps so that air can flow through when at speed but not back when stationary thus avoiding heat soak from the engine bay.

When I say fibreglass, I'm talking about the big plank's of plywood covered in fibreglass.

I think the ali plate (all of the rad is ali) on the back of the rad, is so when the fan are on they will suck are from the whole area of the rad, not just where the fan is.

RadTech are one of the leading manufactures of Ali rads, so I would have thought they know what they are talking about.
