I genuinely adore the fact you are getting book suggestions from people that clearly can't, or don't, read.

I put From Hell and then added V for Vendetta as an afterthought because I have the memory of a goldfish and had already forgotten the OP.

If you liked V for Vendetta, I’d recommend Transmetropolitan! Awesome story of future politics and corruption, staring one of comics best creations, Spider Jerusalem.
If you like Alan Moore, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is good, although it gets a little odd in the later books.
+1 Sandman, regarded as one of the best comics written, easily on par with Watchmen.
+1 for Preacher too, truly epic.
+1 for The Boys too, excellent spin on the Super Hero genre.
+1 for Y: The Last Man.
Maus if you want something serious.
100 Bullets is great.
DMZ worth a read
In fact, I’ve found anything on the Vertigo (D.C’s non super hero publisher) label to be good. Take a look at their site, you can read the first editions of quite a few...

2 pages and no-one has mentioned 'The Walking Dead'??
It's 100% B&W, very well thought out on a page by page basis. Very deep, very strong characters with excellent progression through the series. You get a real sense of the desolation and fear.

Superb, (If you like Zombie apocalypse scenarios..) I'm almost willing to guarantee you'll like it.
Also.. soon to be (October 2010) a TV series, which, just about gives you time to read all the GN's up to the most recent.

You should get a few old Dan Dare compendiums. The original "Voyage to Venus" is an excellent read, and beautifully drawn by Frank Hampson.

60 years on and it hasn't lost its charm.

Another good one, although quite short lived.
'Sam and Twitch'. A spin-off from the 'Spawn' series (also enjoyable and definatley worth atleast looking at, though a bit left-field for some people).
Two detectives: a fat arse-hole and his undervalued partner, some horrific crimes all bought together in a fantastic story.
