quinny, the cam is as close to where it was not to worry......

LG, not worried, just interested, it still sounds like a screaming banshee precat....

Well done that man. Bet it's good to have it back.

Mine changed its engine note when I rebuilt the engine a couple of years back. Could never work out why either. All I can think of is cam timing as Quinny says, but since there's little wrong with the power I'm happy with a little noise.

Give me a chance to fit my new lights (got to be worth 5 bhp wink ) and I'll be up for that.

Ant, just out of interest, can you see or feel the liner move when you turn the engine over by hand? just wondered if it moves enough to be seen, or just a fraction of a mm??

...yes...I have a noise I don't like...

check by drawing your nail across the deck, your nail should not feel the liner edge.

Also check to see if the machining marks on top of the deck align with those on top of the liner, if not then they also turned which may indicate movement...

Was looking to take the sump off and check from the bottom, if possible, to avoid stripping the top end down....

Might have to call you on that! House move is looking more and more delayed, so the Griff might get a bit of TLC in the next few weeks...

Always in a hurry ;-)
