Well last week I found out I needed another tow car. So the plan was to sell the MX5 and get a land rover.

I went to the pub last night and after 6 pints of pure wisdom (Carling), I have decided what I really need is a faster MX5. And to rent another tow car when I need it, or do two runs with one trailer.

So I have a nice Mk1, non rusty, low mileage, stock (except the colour of the wheels and a splitter), 1.8 with a LSD.

Do I go mental with the one I have, or do I sell it and get one already modded?

What would you do?

Probably be far cheaper to get one already done, as long as its been done properly.

Well, you never get your money back for mods when you sell a car - ergo it is cheaper to buy one already done. However I'd say if you like your car and it's a good base for the project then do it to yours - you'll get a lot out of it and the car will be done just how YOU want it.

Its much much more cost effective to buy ready modded.

But its more fun to do it yourself.

I bought mine mildly modded as a project car to heavily modify and its been ace. Would probably have been cheaper to stand in the garden setting fire to £20 notes though.

So how much do you propose to spend on gaining more power? I'm in the process of getting all the bits together for a supercharger conversion and the total bill is very likely to be north of £2k.

Buy a car that's already fast instead of spending fortunes that you will never recuperate on modding.

Well the problem is I need to sell mine first. So anything I see that I like now, will be gone by the time mine has sold.

Thanks guys!
