quick insurance question - help needed!

i have bought a car this afternoon and have a question about insurance for the rest of the weekend -

the car i have bought is insured on the sellers company policy - i have fully comp on my main car policy.

so... i know i could drive it with my own cover (3rd party only) if he had specific insurance for the car. how does it work in terms of my cover as he has company insurance?

my insurers are closed for the weekend so i cant transfer my own insurance till monday and i really want to pick it up and have it on the drive!!! i'm all excited but ive just had to drive 40 miles home having paid for it but not able to drive it as i dont know if i'm covered.

i'm really hoping that someone here can clear it up and i can go back tonight to get it.

Just to be sure I would insure it on one of the 48hours schemes.

I believe that as you now own the car you will not be covered by your 'drive other cars' clause on your main car policy.

I suppose it depends on a variation of things

1. Company sellers policy, does that mean there is only insurance force whilst he owns the car or is driving the car?.

2. Your policy you say has DOC, does it require the car you're driving to be insured elsewhere?, also if you are now the owner DOC probably won't cover you.

You need the answers to the above before you can figure out whether you're insured or not.

Exactly this. The price of an incident where you aren't insured, isn't worth it. One of those 48hr suggestions looks like a good idea if you are too excited to wait until Monday

i thought that might be the case as i now own the car. i'm looking at a temp cover site but i dont think itll touch me as the car is an impreza.

i'll keep looking though.

Ask the seller if they would mind bringing it to you and doing the paperwork at your house, smiles all round
