Help!
I have recently bought a Fuji S3000 and an excellent camera it seems to be.
I loaded the download programmes onto the computer and downloaded a couple of "chips", everything was fine.
Now going back in a second time, I follow the routine and when I switch on the camera there is a little tune from the computer but the pop up saying new hardware detected and giving me a dialogue box to say downloading doesn't come up and the camera just sits there with a green light. Supposed to flash red.
Any ideas, I have re loaded the CD to see if that helps. It didn't.
Getting very frustrated at the moment.
Regards
Tony H

Can you see the camera as an external disk drive? Open "Windows Exporer" and see if you have a new disk drive... "E:" for example. That'll be your camera. You can copy, move, etc the files from the camera to wherever you'd like on your computer

the book of destructions tells me there should be a dedicated "removable drive" on the Explorer but Ican't see it. Funny how it worked the first time though. Should I try to reload the CD again?

Is the cable properly connected into the back of your computer? I know it sounds silly but if the camera isn't being detected could this be it?

Yes, as far as I know the cable is fully home, the camera screen shows the usb sign and the computer beeps as if there is a connection made. Just nowt else happens. Tried fully charged batteries too. And also the other "chip" in case this one had a fault.

What OS are you using ?

My neighbour is running ME and had a similar problem. The recommended Win 98 drivers wouldn't work but the WIn 2K do.

Theirs is also a Fuji camera.

Might be worth s try.

I get something similar, sometimes. Plug the camera in and the software should open up and show your images. Except sometimes it doesn't, I have to open the application from the task bar. Is that the same thing?

Win2k & Win98

Hi Mark and 130tdi, whats this OS & ME please? As a computer thicky, how do I open it from the task bar,not so sure there's anything on there that will let me in. There is a Finepix viewer on the Desktop but this doesn't have a command to start reading the camera.
Just got the OS - Operating System = xp professional

Sagalout,
When you open the finepix viewer it should display all the pictures in the current folder. In the left pane if you navigate to the camera (it'll be drive D: or E: called removable disk) you should see all the pictures on the camera.

If it doesn't help let me know and I can talk you through it via the phone if you like.

Thank you Mark, I'll have another look at it tonight. I can't say that I saw those options and I DID look.
On explorer, I already have a drive D & E, one has some of my own files on it and I think E is the CD drive but I may be wrong. Thanks again and if I get stuck can I call you this evening or tomorrow?

Drop me an email through my profile with your number, if if you prefer I'll send you my number. Tomorrow would be better around lunchtime.

Using it as a 'removeable hard drive' is best I think - if it's working, you should be able to go 'My Computer' and see that another letter has appeared representing the camera. Mine is 'G' as it's the next one along.

As that doesn't seem to be working for you, how about opening the Fuji software you installed and seeing if there's an 'Import from camera' or 'Acquire' option?

NB By chip I think you mean memory card?

Thanks guys, got the pics downloaded. The menu that is supposed to pop up when you switch on the camera doesn't but I have found the way to access the camera via Pixviewer now. Cheers Mark YHM.
Sorry, yes by "chip" I meant memory card.
What a good camera that S3000 is.
