ECU Swap ??

Anyone know if an ecu from an E36 318Ti (M44 engine) will bolt into an E36 318Ti (M42 engine variant) ?

reason for asking it that the M44 unit can be remapped and the other only chipped !

Chances are it won't work, I'm pretty certain all M44's are EWS and all M42's are non EWS.
