Just spent a couple of hours under the car trying to get the old exhaust off.

I did the cat. no problem, but wanted to replace the whole system from the manifold back, due to damage on the flange (awesome word...) causing it to blow.

But I can't work out how the hell you get the exhaust system out the back of the car - without raising it up on a 4-post / 2-post lift.

Just couldn't get enough height to twist it around and remove it.

Any ideas?

Cheers...

On my UK Mk1 1.8 I had to remove the rear anti-roll bar/brace/strut if its present

Thought that may be the case.

I'll have another look tomorrow.

Did mine recently and only on two standard ramps! Luckily there was a really thin guy with us who got underneath and got the angle grinder out when the middle section was being a PITA.We dragged half of it out through the engine bay and the other half out the back once the anti roll bar was removed.

Funny really, but the manifold and heat shield bolts came out no problem at all and they were the bits I assumed would be a nightmare.
