Came out of Asda to find...
Discussion
a scratch on the drivers side front bumper!!! I was absolutely raging! Noticed it straight away, and checked the car parked next to me, a little scratch there, but height and colour did not marry up to what happened to my poor little car. Seems like some scrote must have tried parking their car and scratched it, though "feck" and drove off. Thing is, the parking spaces weren't exactly small, I always reverse in, and had plenty space between me and the cars to the left and right of me on my time of arrival! Spent about 30 mins TOPS, in the shop with my mother.
When I saw the scratch, my face just dropped and I was already effing and essing everywhere, my mother had quite a time calming me down.
Why can't people just learn to park properly? or at least have the decency to leave a note!
As I drive a little Jap car, the paint work is thin enough as it is, so its gone right through and I see the black of the bumper. Really not in the financial position to sort it out now, so I guess I'll just have to wait. Had already noticed a few light scratches on the back bumper with no idea when it happened, but this new ones deep enough to really bug me.
Rant over.

You went to Asda?!?!!?!
Unfortunately yes
Was only suppose to be a quick in and out for me to buy a drink, but mother wanted a quick nosey and shop aswell.Really does make a shocking difference though, I've never had this in Morrisons. In Tesco's its happened before to the rear bumper.

I just really dont understand, my mother even made a comment about how much bigger the spaces seemed to be compared to usual parking bays, I thought the same aswell, but apparently, its still not big enough!

That's a s
t thing to happen, OP. I'd be livid too.
Almost like one needs a cheap banger for runabout, shopping etc :-(
Thing is, my cars nothing special, its just special to me. I'm still a student, and I had to work very hard for my things. Doesnt matter the kind of car it is, people just need to learn to respect others property, and also learn to park!

Did you go back in the shop they should have cameras in the car park, get the reg and sort them out
Nah, I had a quick scan of all the Camera's, they were mostly pointing towards the shop, or closer to the shop. I usually park mid to furthest away from the shop to try and avoid the lazy buggers who cant park! :@

I love the way that everybody on PH states that they never go to Asda. When I would bet a weeks wages that they nip in every now and then.
I don't.Then again, there are no ASDA branches in this country

However, if there were I would never ever go there. Honest.
Well except perhaps to nip in once in a while.
'cos it's ASDA Price.
(or something - I'm behind the times on UK adverts)
Asda jokes aside, I'm sorry your P&J (on your profile) got scratched but that is the way of the world and has been since time immemorial. The only way avoid it is to keep the car in an otherwise empty and locked garage - which rather defeats the point of having one.
If it's any consolation a door of my own humble hack is currently bearing the scar from being used as a door-stop by an adjacent car (clearly while the occupant was entering or exiting too)
I don't like it either, it's part and parcel of being a vehicle owner.

Had almost exactly this happen to me in a French supermarket car park.
6 month old VW Touareg, t'was immaculate before. Now two chips of paint about the size of a 20p piece missing from the front bumper.
If Frech supermarket carparks are the same as UK ones, then Touareg is too big to patk, unless it's Costco.6 month old VW Touareg, t'was immaculate before. Now two chips of paint about the size of a 20p piece missing from the front bumper.

I'm glad and proud I'm still honest. In my last car I had accidentally reversed into the bumper of a van. Went through the next few steps.1) Checked for damage, none visible to the eye on either cars
2) Waited for 5 mins to see if the van driver returned
3) Took photo's of both vehicles of where the contact was made
4) Wrote a note with my number and quick detail about what had happened
5) Went home
6) Got a phonecall from Van driver, not asking to claim or for money, just saying that he appreciated my honest and not to worry about it.
