Is there something wrong with this site?

Ok, I confess I only have a dial up connection but recently the load up bar (blue line at bottom of browser) keeps loading well past the page coming up. Even whilst posting this it is still only half loaded, it never used to happen before. I visit loads of different sites but it only happens on this one - PH.

Is there some monkey business going on in the backround?

What does this mean generally (ie. blue bar filling up after screen has loaded and it all 'hanging' for ages)? I get this all the time on my pc at home (normal BT connection) and just assumed it was because my pc was pants. If there's a way to improve it (other than by getting broadband) then that would be excellent and mean more PH at home too.

I have always had dial up but it never used to happen before. Call me paranoid but just wondering if some bug moving around PH?

It's nothing sinister.

The adverts at the top of the page are now being served from a server external to the PH server. So the page can load but the banner can take longer to appear.

I'm looking into whether it can be tweaked.

Mmm... struggling to get to the bottom of this.

Is the page blank in the time that you have to wait, or is it displaying but still indicating that there's more it's downloading?

Its displaying but still showing its loading at the bottom, none of the smilies load properly untill the bar is completed. It is really weird, but I am at home now on the laptop and its fine. Just appears to be a problem with the Mac now, although every other site I go on is fine.

Ted mine seems to hang after loading the PH gassing logo and the menu bar.I dont always get the ad and the topic dosen't load

My problem on the mac at work, is exactly as Ribol described in that thread. But it is ok on this laptop

Yep and sometimes the thread dosen't load although thats less common

What happens is the page loads and gets to "done" or "page complete" status. However after that it then tries to transfer data from www.vibrantmedia.com which I assume is the advert server, this can take a fair amount of time to come through it appears, and on the firefox browser on the Mac it actually hangs the page until the advert data is downloaded.

Don't like to be the party pooper here but it is exactly as it was before for me. I also have problems on the test page.
If I go to:www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=23&h=0

It just keeps loading and never gets to the point it says "done", although the page displays as quickly as it used to, if that makes any sense. Even previewing a message before posting does the same, never stops loading. This started happening about two weeks approx.

Edited to add that I have just noticed this does not happen on the advert pages, only the forums?
