Your Driving tips ?

Ok, I am 40 and have been driving 23 years, I am however, not so naive as to think I know it all, so for a change instead of worrying about the car, its performance, handling and image, I was wondering if anyone has any little strategies that they think improves their driving ?
Few of mine, might be obvious but people don't seem to do a lot of basic things.
At junctions, if it isn't the best for visibility, I turn off the stereo and open both windows to give a better view and more opportunities to hear things, I do this even in the rain as for the sake of a few spots of water an open window is much better than a wet one. For the average Mini driver, the equivalent would be to stop writing that text on your Iphone for a few seconds.
On a blind corner, use the horn, obviously not a night (11pm - 7am) when lights do the job anyway, I think this is in the Highway code but nobody seems to do it and seem to think the horn is for issuing judgement on someone else's driving prowess.
Don't be afraid to shift position to see more, moving your head a few inches can afford a better view.
When changing lanes, have a glance over your shoulder, don't rely totally on mirrors.

I never overtake a car that is indicating in the adjacent lane. In London, all drivers do the opposite - an indicator signal means 'overtake me now, at speed'.
I avoid driving in anyone's blind spot, as I make the assumption all other drivers don't check and won't indicate before they change lanes.
I leave sensible stopping distances, and avoid coasting when coming to a stop for a) better control, b) less braking (sometimes no braking) and c) better fuel consumption.
When on most roads I just chill out. No point driving fast on the M25, its not fun. Also no point rushing through a town centre, you will get get points and a manslaughter charge. A nice quiet B road at 5am in the summer is what I live for
Drive to the conditions. If its snowing, dont drive an MX-5 at all.

Always leave a good space between yourself and the car in front. It's bit frustrating when a moron overtakes and pulls into that space but remember 'only a fool ignores the 2 second rule'
Never overtake anyone on a roundabout where there are multiple lanes - this one has saved my bacon a few times!

Seems most in the thread were taught the same, its worked for me anyway !
