I moved to Canada last week and need to transfer my savings to my Canadian bank account... Halifax gave me a sh*t rate of 1.51 but someone recommended a ForEx company to me, I tried one and got 1.58 so I think that's the better deal by far...

Are they all reputable? I don't want to lose my money to them!

Several have gone bust over the last few years, so choose carefully. Friends have used currencyfair which works in a similar way to betfair. Your counterparty risk is with an Irish bank (can't remember which) that sits behind the site and not the site itself. That said Irish banks look a little less stable than they used to....

I haven't been following cad/gbp but you may wish to consider a Sterling account with your Canadian bank until you are happier with the rate.

Not a bad idea, I do need to spend some of it, unfortunately, does it just convert on the fly if you use it?

Recommendation for PureFX, have been busing them for a couple of years, put hundreds of thousands through them, and never an issue. Speak to Chris or James, they're good guys.

Thanks!

I must stipulate I'm a personal customer only looking to change a few k, I'm not talking about putting millions through it or repeat trade, will PureFX still do it for me?
