I'm after replacing my regular light fitting in the bathroom with 4 recessed lamps.. Preferably LED.

I'm stumped now. I don't know what (if any) transformers i need etc, does each light need a transformer or can i use one central transformer then plug 4 lights into it!?

Be nice if I could just get a kit off of someone that's more or less plug and play.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Budget is around £100

Thanks! smile

That be a pleasure smile

Speak to PH'er E36GUY - http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/profile.asp?membe...

I can honestly hand on heart not recommend the Zep1 LED light enough. I have just put 13 of these in two bathrooms. I have GU10's all throughout downstairs (approx 40-50) and these Zep1's are easily equal in light output to the 50w GU10's. I will post pics once the bathrooms are 100% finished, but take it from me... these are fantastic and also benefit from being cool running. Have you ever touched a GU10 when hot yikes

eta - even my electrician took the details of these lights. He did an apartment block a year or so ago in the City using another brand of LED bulb. A week later he was ordered in to change the LED's to GU10's as the output was crap. He was very skeptical when i told him i was using LED lights. When he took a Zep1 out of the box he said "oooooo these look a little special". When he switched them on he said "fk me.... they ARE special!"

They look lovely, just can't help but think they're a bit expensive for me. frown

I'm not so bothered for LED for the looks, more because they run so cool.

Open to all other suggestions.

You do really get what you pay for with lighting. Buy cheap... buy twice.

Anywhere cheaper than £50 per unit?

Only need 3 but £150 is abit out of budget.

Thanks!

Edition. I got your message yesterday but have left my mobile at home today so can't get your email to reply. Your PH mail apparently isn't an option so if you could message me at the email address I put in the posts above I will drop you that reply.

Cheers

It's down to total wattage. If the transformer is 160W then it will run up to four 40W lamps.

Correct. But it's also down to wiring. If you are replaceing halogen with constant current LED then you will need a power supply unit per lamp as that's probably how you're already wired. If you have the option to wire in series then you could use one PSU for several lamps no probs.

All fitted now and really happy with them! They give off a really warm but crisp glow and have made the room look totally different at night!

Only issue is I'm struggling where to fit some more!!! Think the kitchen might have to get some!

Can't recommend Guy enough! Great bit of kit!

He also seemed to be able to hear a BMW 6cly engine from 250 miles away laugh

What sort of wire did you use from the transformer to the lights?

I'm assuming you wired yours in series? Mine's a job for next week!

Another thumbs up for the ZEP1's here too. I've got them in my kitchen and en-suite.
