Slave?

Afternoon chaps. I expect most of you are on your way back from oop North but.....
Just backed my cerb out of the garage and there are a few drops of clutch fluid under the gearbox and drivers side.
It drives perfectly and the (new) master cylinder is still full of clean fluid.
The seals in the slave were only done about 500 miles/3months ago. Can they fail so soon or should i look for something else?
Cars been parked up for an hour now and nothing has dripped yet. May be it only does it stone cold?
Any suggestions?
Dont want it to let me down for TAG!!

There isn't much else! If your sure it's clutch fluid it's either the seals or the feed pipe or the bleed pipe.
The bleed pipe is at 12 o'clock on the bellhousing and the feed pipe around the 5 o'clock. It's unlikely these pipes would fail but check them first toy never know one may have come loose.
Whilst under there clean the area and see if you can see where the fluid is originating from.

If i get home in time today, i'll get it on my mates ramp and have a look.
There still aren't any more drops under it today though. Why would this be do you reckon?
Is there a boot over the slave which would fill up and then leak?

Thereis no boot over the slave, sorry to say.

It is possible that at least one of the seals could have been 'nicked' on re-assembly and would cause an early leak.

Mark's idea would be best to follow before you end up too far from home.

Well,
We had it up on the ramp and had a good look.
It definitely isn't leaking from the feed and bleed pipes nor from around bell housing etc.
The only thing we can think of was that it came from the cap of the master cylinder when it got a bit hot last time out.
If i recall when i checked the level, there was a bit of fluid on the lid. May be it was full to the brim and expanded a bit and dumped a little bit out. Whaddyareckon?

Could have dribbled down at the last fill-up though ?

Definitely not a drip in the last couple of days though. Weird eh?

If any fluid leaks from the Master Cylinder it ends up in the drivers footwell behind the pedals.
But fingers crossed it was just a oddity.

Steve, if you just had the seals done there is a good chance the damage is already done internally on the piston.

I replaced my seals only for them to fail 6 months later. Did they tidy up the piston/cylinder when they had it apart. You can also easily knick the seals when refitting.

Andy at APM did it so i imagine he would have done it properly.
Do you think that if the fluid level was possibly overfilled, it could come out somewhere and drip on the floor when it had got really hot?
There are no drips on the floor or any fluid anywhere under the car now.

Most likely it spewed out the slave when it got hot. That was how mine failed for the 2nd time. I'd changed the seals and it had been fine for months then I got really hot one day (lots of traffic) and it puked as I pulled onto my drive.

You could be ok and it only did it as it was warm but normally there is an underlying issue causing the problem that's aggravated when hot.
