There is a pipe coming fom the cross above the a/c going to where the breather pipe is ,what is its purpose as it does not seem to make any difference whether its connected or blanked off ?.

I don't quite understand your description, "fom the cross above the a/c" a photo would help. I seem to remember there is a fuel vapour pipe heading in that general direction (which would indeed make no diff if connected or not) but I can't be sure this is what you are talking about.

That's the four way union that sits on top of the a/c pump. Hope that's a good enough picture. My son made this union out of stainless steel as the poxy plastic one that it came with fell to bits.

Just had a look at mine and yes, that is what I thought it was, but I've got a 4.2 so the 4 way is at the rear of the fuel rail rather than on top of the aircon pump. Thanks for the finger by the way!

So as I said, I think it is to vent fuel vapour into the airbox - same as the engine breather. Think that's for 'environmental reasons' but maybe we could do with someone more knowledgable than me to confirm this, anyone...anyone?
