Hi All

Looking for some advice on buying between the following 3 cars:

porsche 986 boxster s
bmw z4 3.0
honda s2000

budget around 12k.

My sister saw a 986 earlier and really likes it, my advice was that i'd probably go for it due to it being the best al-rounder and possibly hold its value in a couple of years.

are there any known issues to be looking for on all 3?

thanks

Probably best trying the more specific fora, they generally all have buying guides and FAQ'S.

If posing and residuals are her key concerns, it has to be the Porker.

...not to mention it will p1$$ all over the others in all respects.

However if self-persuading conversation that tries to justify WHY you didnt buy one having opted for the other are your may concern, take your pick out of the BMW or Honda whistle

LOL!

ETA: Issues to look for;
- Rear Main Seal may be leaky.
- Clutch and dual mass flywheel so check accordingly.
- Puff of smoke on startup after lon periods of sitting not always a problem (due to engine config).

Your price range will get you a 3.0si Z4. 265PS (2006 onwards), 0-60 in 5.5s and will return around 30mpg in mixed driving.

A key factor in your decision (if your like me) will be the age, mileage and running costs of your three options which is going to vary significantly.
