I've got an issue with my tenancy and was hoping you guys might be able to offer me some advice.

Basically, I moved into rented accommodation in october 2010 with a mate from Uni. it is a 5 bedroom house and each tenant rents a room within the house rather than the house as a whole. When we moved in we where told that only other student would move into the remaining rooms and as a result of this, we decided to go ahead with it... anyway fast forward 7 months and EVERYTHING has gone to st.

1. We moved in on the 15th October and as a result they said we could claim back half the months rent for that period. After countless phone calls they are claiming that I owe them money and they won't be refunding the half months rent for when I wasn't even a tenant there! (I have never missed a payment!)

2. After telling us both that only students would move in to the property, 3 unemployed 30 something year olds are now living here! this wouldn't normally be much of a problem but they are refusing to pay me there share of the bills! As I was the first to move in all the utilities are in my name, so I am stuck with paying and there is nothing I can do! I cant cancel the accounts until my tenancy agreement is up.

I need to get out ASAP! Is there any way I can end my tenancy early? for example, can I just pay the remaining 2 months rent, end my tenancy, get my deposit and go?

I tried to keep it as short as possible.. There is more but I dont want to end up writing an essay.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Maybe cut the services off, move out, dont pay any more rent, and use the cash for a soicitor?

Or suck it up, pay what you're due to legally, put it down to experience and move on.
