Sunday Service Update - We've Got A Sponsor!

Adrian Flux insurance joins PistonHeads 2011 Sunday Services, and more parking available on the 15th too

Our next Sunday Service will be held this weekend at the Nissan and Renault UK HQ as previously promoted a few weeks ago. We (well, you actually) managed to fill all 335 available spaces in less than 24 hours. That's a new PHSS record; in fact the speed at which it filled up was nothing less than astonishing.

As a result, the good people at Nissan and Renault have been busy with the tarmac machine and can now extend the parking to 400 spaces in total. By the time you read this, the additional spaces will have been added to the calendar, so please check back to see if you are now guaranteed a space. If your name is down on the list but you can no longer attend, please remove your name from the list to enable someone else to take your place. Don't forget that we will be choosing 50 cars at the gate to be parked underground to help us create the 12pm Chorus of Noise too.

If you are attending the PHSS, are over 25 and hold a clean licence we suggest you bring it along with you as Nissan is also offering the chance for sceptical PHers to take a drive in the new all-electric Leaf on the day (subject to availability). You may never have the opportunity again, so regardless of your feelings towards this type of car you may as well have a go while the keys (do they have keys? - Ed) are being thrust in your direction.

As the PistonHeads Sunday Services become more popular, we seek to find ways of giving you more and as a result Insurance royalty Adrian Flux have kindly offered to partner us for the remaining dates of 2011 (venue info to follow later this year). So what does that mean to you? Well, upon arrival you will be handed a PistonHeads Sunday Service window sticker to show the world you worship at the alter of PH (highly sought-after and only given to those that attend a meet - one per car). In addition you will also receive an official 'Order of Service', which will tell you what is happening throughout the morning when you arrive.

If that wasn't enough we would also like to offer a prize to the reader-voted 'Car of the Morning' and that's where we need you to do some work. When you return from the meet on Sunday afternoon, send us an e-mail (details will be on your Order of Service) and Adrian Flux will send a nice big bottle of Champagne to the owner of the car that gets the most votes. To be in with a chance of winning you'll need to make sure you have added your car details to the event calendar to help us contact the winner later the following week. The Adrian Flux team won't be attending the event, and will not attempt the hard sell (phew) but their number is on the Order of Service should you want to contact them at your leisure.

They just keep getting better don't they? Who needs a lie-in anyway?

Garlick,

Great idea for a SS sticker for attendees. Would it be possible to get the date and venue on it? That way people can make a collection and show which SS the car has been to, rather than the same sticker at each SS.

Looking forward to it!

For now it will be a generic SS sticker, but that's something to consider for later meets.

At least we will get these unlike ahem a certain vintage BTAP stickers wink

Other ideas
Maybe a Sunday Service Book? Those with a full attendance (ie Full Service History) go into a hat for a prize at the end of the year

Great news smile Like the new stickers too.

Slightly disappointed that Flux aren't attending in person: I hear that some of the female side of the office are quite, er, "derestricted".

Disgusted by how far west this one is though. What about those of us in Essex, eh? What about us? You thoughtless, terrible, etc... wink

Sounds great, even if I'm too young to drive the Leafblower thingy.

Love the fact that I could rock up for the meet in my Z4 M roadster with a clean license...but as I'm 22, I can't drive the electric leafblower! Probably in case I can't handle the power? How very ageist! Insurance for test drives should be based on experience and not age! ;-(

But it isn't though is it. To be fair to Nissan they are offering the whole thing for free and T&C's have to kick in somewhere. As sad as it is, they can't say 'no under 25's unless they drive an X,Y,Z' rather they have to do as their company policy dictates.

We're sure you'll still enjoy the other elements, after all this was just an added bonus to the ones you signed up to see initially. In a few years you will wish you were young enough to be excluded, I wish I was smile

If I don't make it into the top 400 (I'm #441 so it's looking unlikely!), can I still come along, park up somewhere else and have a wonder round?

Tricky one, as if we said yes to this we would never have an idea of catering, and the hosts would probably get grief from the neighbours for the additional cars parking locally.

It might be easier to see if you can passenger with another local PHer in all honesty, as we need to keep an idea of numbers somehow rather than allow unknown amount of foot visitors to come through the gates.

Probably not the answer you wanted, but it's an honest one.

No probs, totally understandable. I would ask around for a lift but may be a little hung over and don’t want to let anyone down. I’ll try and be quicker for the next one smile

The previous articles have all stated the times, 09.00 opening and closing at 13.00. We are choosing cars on the gate for the 50 underground spaces at no set time. Aim for 09.00 - 10.00 I'd say.
