Intermittent boot fault

Hello,
My Chim has an intermittent fault with the boot release.
It will work fine for weeks every time i test it, but as soon as i need to get in it may or maynot work?

I'm going to have a look at it this week-end and wondered if this is a common fault and if it's more likely to be at the button end, or the boot end. Also, does anyone know the part number for the boot end so i can get a replacement.

Just try it with the engine actually running, when mine was playing up this always worked, no idea why

I had similar problem, tried everything, then eventually changed the solenoid, its not been a problem since.

OK, will change the solenoid 1st

Hmmm, never really noticed if it happens more with the engine running or not, but will pay attention next time!

I had this, boot worked fine since i had the car then one day would not work. Took everything apart and it turned out to be a loose pin in a connector in the door pillar on the nearside. I just closed up the sockets a bit and it's been fine since. Might be worth a look.
