Hotels in Valencia!

Good Afternoon everyone,

Need some advice on which area/which hotel to book in Valencia, Spain.

We would like it to be close to all the action, Bars/Food etc but possibly near/on the beach front.

Has any one been to or can recommend any nice hotels (not expensive).

We will probably book flights and hotels together.

I don't know anything about hotels as I stayed with my cousin who lived there at the time but I can recommend that you concentrate on the area around the cathedral for restaurants and bars in the evening, there's some great nightlife around there. Watch the drinks though as they like their measures big!

Great thanks I will look for hotels in that area then. Anybody else have any suggestions ?

It'll either be in town, OR near the beach, they're a long-ish walk or short taxi ride apart!

Sailed in here, the Marina (next to the beaches) is well out of town.

It's a walled town, so anything within the walls is close enough to walk most places.

I went to Valencia a few years ago before the Americas cup and F1 money came in. Back then the transport system was ace, they have a very good and cheap tram and underground system. I stayed in a new hotel near the site of the new Valencia ground, a little way out but as the transport links were so good it didn't matter.

We had some great meals out at a variety of restaurants, we even met Claudio Ranieri (sp?) in an Italian resaurant (which was very good) near the bull ring. Also make sure you have a proper Paella, there from the region!

Thanks Chaps, I will look inside the walls, Prob Ayre Hotel Astoria Palace which is pretty much in the centre of town
