Received a job offer, but not sure I want it?

After years of lurking, its time I joined up.
Had an interview for a job, the role seems good, as does the team, the prospects and the salary. I'd be commuting on the M62 and M60 (40 miles total, may take me 90 minutes?), but it was only at the interview that I found out they have no parking.
Call me shallow, but this is a problem for me. Firstly, its an inconvinience having to walk from the nearest car park, which is 7-10 minutes away, and secondly I don't particularly want to keep the Porsche there. As I'm afrais of it getting pranged or broken in to.
I could get the train, which is a 10 minute walk from my house, and another 10 minute walk to the company, but it'll cost me £2,600 for a yearly season ticket. Whilst this works out at about £5.50 for each working day, I'm paranoid about arriving late. The train leaves at 7:10 and arrives 8:50 - that doesnt give much leaway.
Thoughts please?

Depends on how much you want the job really doesn't it?
First suggestion - by a second car for the work run.
FWIW in the 4 years I had the Boxster I had to park it in places I really wouldn't have done by choice a lot of times and the only place anyone did anything was the ***** **** **** in supermarkets with their effing trolleys and f

I would say that a 5 minute walk for an able bodied person is nothing if the job is the right one. If it was the one thing that split two offeres than I would see your point.
There are too many factors to equate to give you a proper answer tbh. I wouldn't let it put me off a good job though.

To avoid the concern about the car then I would take the train every day. Surely it will cost you more than £5.50 each day for petrol, plus wear and tear. Then I would ask myself if I could be bothered to take the train. My personal choice is 'no', I don't like catching trains, so I wouldn't take the job.
Would getting a second (more disposable) car be an option?

1) Mk3 cavalier TD as daily driver will allow porsche to be insured on limit mileage policy ? 2) Train and price ? Price MUST be cheaper than driving and paying for parking a) Get an earlier train. b) Negotiate on the start time.

Firstly, I dont want a second car, its not how I roll. The company said they will pay for my parking, which is nice of them. On the flip side the company is quite small, and about 30 members of staff get the train, so if one person is late, most of them are.
That said, I'd have to catch two trains, and sometimes 3. To be honest I really like trains, even though I rarely get them. But when I'd be spending 80 minutes on one each way, I need to know they are reliable, which I don't think they are (this could just be PH scarmongering
)

How are you going to cope with a 40 mile journey in the Porsche when its cold and snowy ? people to go past, accidents, cars sliding in to you, its gonna take 2, maybe 3 more hours each way ? I agree with the others, take the train and talk to them about flexible start times, i.e. if you end up getting there at 9:15 you work for an extra 15 minutes that evening.
IH, how old are you? When it's cold and Snowy, buy a big thick coat, maybe an umbrella and maybe even some suitable footwear with office shoes in a bag. Put a smile on your face, put the brolly up and revel in the fact that you're probably walking some of your lunch off. Are you that unfit that you can't walk a short distance to work?

I'd train it too! You can be half asleep / reading the paper / eating breakfast on the train not concentrating... easier and cheaper than driving!
If its a nice run in take the motor every Friday.
What you really need to deal with is the 2 hour door to door commute every day twice a day.
I wouldn't want to do that every day of my life, the average 9-5 turns into a 12+ hour day.

Snowboots! Trainers at all other times. I change into shoes when i get to work. Next week i'll be walking to and from Waterloo to the City during the strikes. Honestly, it's healthy to walk around.
