I will travelling back to the UK soon, and again later in the year, so was pondering buying a cheap GPS with UK maps pre-loaded that I can leave with my family when I go home (I curently live in the US) instead of buying a new UK map and uplodaing it to our US Tom Tom unit.

it doesn't need all the whistles & bells the top line units have, just some solid basic functions.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks

Bought a Tom Tom Start end of last year, priority was for my daughters to find their way to friends houses in areas they hadn't been to before, programming is easy, TomTom instructions appear quickly, girls tend to follow verbal instructions and not look at the route, used it around Paris myself this year, no problems

Unit very cheap around £80, does every thing it needs to do for the girls, my only gripe is it doesn't list the route instructions for you to peruse beforehand, don't need any gimmicks on it

I have bought a Navman unit for £69 from Halfords - full Euro Mapping!

Review appear good and don't need any features other than "GET ME THERE".

Will report back.
