Sorry, sorry, sorry...

A member of the family is getting married soon, and e bride would like to buy the groom a watch. However, his dream watch is a Seamaster, and her budget is circa £400.

Any suggestions?

(I'm thinking Oris or Longines Hydroconquest quartz may just get in budget)

Any of these tick the boxes?

Christopher Ward C60SYS
Traser Pro Auto (might be leftfield)

Or hit TZ SC and see if anyone's parting with an older Seamaster, but £400 would probably be stretching it a bit

Agree - SMP isn't going to happen.

Interested on getting ideas to help though. As it's a wedding present, the preferred option is for new rather than S/H.

There are a dozen or so (used and vintage) seamasters in that budget on Chrono24.

This looks the pick of the bunch: http://www.chrono24.com/en/omega/serial-number-135...

Thanks. I meant the SMP.

Friend of mine has a Tissot Visodate which I like the look of. Think they're about £350ish.

I picked up a Tissot Visondate back in March when my Planet Ocean went in for service....
Bought online @ £260 via watchmaster.... Lovely, lovely watch that attracts lots of compliments and looks nore expensive than it is. Can't go wrong IMO

Do you have a link for that? £260 seems like a great price...

If she's prepared to bump her budget a little, then can't go far wrong with one of these -

It's a wedding.
If she really loved him she'd get a second hand frock from ebay and buy him his dream watch.
And how much are they shelling out for hats? Shoes too.

Lovely idea, but that's a 50% increase in budget.

More is being spent on the watch, than the dress.

If his dream watch is an SMP it would be shame to not get one, IIRC second hand mid-size quartzes start at £600-ish so only £200 over budget...

Lefty, not seen one at thaT money for a while. Last decent one was closer to £800.

Stowa is a good shout. Antea comes in around €490 - which is about 10% over budget.

Any further ideas along the Stowa or Tissot?

Mmm, ok sorry. I saw one in a jewellers in aberdeen about a year ago for 600 I'm sure. I'd have bought it if it was the full-size auto!

I'd agree with that, but this seems to be the cheapest auto I can see.

Quartzes were down to about £400 a few years back, can only think the pound tanking is to blame.

Hope they can drum up the pennies, would be a shame for him to spend the rest of the time thinking "if only"!

Certainly nothing like an SMP but I just bought a TW Steel CEO 1022 (currently watching Modern Family and Ed O'Neill's watch kept catching my eye, found out what it was and bought it yesterday hehe How sad do I sound!? )

Less than 400 quid. You can get them in 45mm too if 50mm is too OTT. Nice watch, quite a chunk of blink but a nice watch none-the-less IMO.

It would mean she can't give it as a suprise (if thats what she wanted to do) but why not suggest incorporating it into the wedding list if its not too late (ie Goldsmiths giftvouchers or similar).
