RS6 On its Way
450bhp twin turbo should make going to B&Q more fun
Discussion
Yes, there is going to be an RS6 Avant.
Also, with regards your point on Labradors when the original RS2 was released all the relavent journalists were sent press packs outlining the equipment in the vehicle. As you would expect for a top of the line Audi every option was standard fitment except one, that was bottom of the list and marked as optional.
It simply said: Labrador Sedatives.
We sent the car to Practical Caravanning as well which must have been amusing.

Every option as standard fitment? I've got an unmessed-around-with UK delivered RS2 that I love, but it doesn't have climate control or seat warmers, like my old S4 Avant. The Euro delivery RS2 apparently had both.
It's still had the distinction of being the only car in which every member of my family has whimpered solely when going in a straight line. That turbo does come in with a bit of a bang

I thought climate came in with the A4?
Seat warmers was due to the seats, as they were specials for the RS2 they werent specced with leccy seats I seem to recall.
As for it coming in with a bang I drove the first one in the UK off the transporter. After I had got it safely on the ground I booted it, it took off and I thought 'Dont know what all the fuss is about, this feels no quicker than a VR6' and then all of a sudden it was like making the jump to light speed in the Millenium Falcon. Everything went awfully long!

I had climate in the K-reg S4 avant, but I think it was at the time a flagship car so probably came fully loaded. It's for sale - piccie in the Classifieds section - although not attracting much attention at the asking price.
The RS2 seats are the nice Recaro jobbies in leather, they have electrically adjustable backs and rear squab height. They're very similar to my Porsche 928's Sport seats, quite deep with good thigh supports and big support wings to hold your upper body in place. I'm very glad I came across a black/black model, RS Blue with Alcantara makes a very nice show car but it's not terribly subtle.
Warp drive is a very good name for the turbo kicking in. I particularly like the way that there is apparently no rev limiter, not one that I've managed to find yet anyway, even if I'm that fraction of a second late snatching second gear.

quote:Yes but the first time some nobend overcooks it and munches armco they'll recall the sodding lot and dial in a bucket load of understeer
I read somewhere (possibly evo) Audi's new models will be raher more fun in the handling department too with sharper responses, no understeer etc.

I loved the Red with Black/Red Alcantara. If that had to go anywhere my job would mysteriously morph into that of a delivery driver, funny that!
The RS cars have become more diluted since, the RS2 really was a mad vehicle, the RS4 doesnt really match up (except 50-70 where its blinding) and the RS6 is super quick but it does feel like it would take a small mountain to slow you down again. I never got the chance to try the 80 RS2 saloon that they had at the factory but as it was supposed to be substantially lighter it was even quicker.
RS8 is the one I am waiting to have a play in as there are loads of bits that are on the drawing board from the Avantissimo that may make it onto the road car.

So, were you forced (in a kind of wrestling style "full nelson") to have the mods made to your car then CZ ?
Or was it down to the owner's discretion ?
Or did you buy yours new with the mods already made ?
So many questions - sorry, old fellow.
Nice car tho' - it's the only Audi I'd have (and not the ragtop either, which looks like a Victorian bath with a pram hood)
Mods were always optional to those offered the recall..
Ours is a 2001 spec - ie already modded straight outta the factory.. best I can do is to have ESP switched off.. can at least balance the car on the throttle in turns that way...
That aside, it is a good car and I like it a lot - even if it perhaps wouldn't have been my first choice had it been my choice alone..
The chassis could take alot more power without any problems, but the brakes would have to be Brembo'd..

I'll bet you're looking forward to that. I did like the writeup in this month's evo, it'll be fun to see one in the flesh.
I bought my RS2 from Fontain who are (or at least claim they are) the leading independent specialist dealer for late-model Audis. They have had a number of customers who have sold their RS2 for an RS4, many of whom regretted it as even if the RS4 was faster, it wasn't as exciting to drive.

You might want to check out the Dialynx BulleTT - modified TT powered by a tuned bi-turbo V6 from the new S4 (as opposed to the original S4 like that owned by me and whoozit). I think they might be showing it at GTi International this weekend.
