Pool of Water.
Discussion
Picked up my Tuscan on Saturday,(private sale 2001 model with 10,000 miles on the clock) this is my first TVR, on arriving home noticed a pool of water on the drive coming from under passengers door/wheel arch area, is this the air con doing this!! At the moment can not check the water level of the engine cooling system (can not unscrew the blue water cap, it seems stuck)
Water and oil temp seem OK
Advice welcome…....

I did take the car out again, only for 10 mins, but as soon as I parked the car up with in a couple of minutes the water started to drip from the underside of the car, are you saying it happens all the time,(becuase air con fitted) or just happened to you once.
I need to check the Engine water but the cap won't move, there is an old post about the blue caps sticking, suggestion was to warm the engine up then loosen a bit, let it cool down. But to me if the engine warms up the metal will expand and hence tighten the cap fit!!!

The blue water cap is incredibly tricky to get off, it just doesn't budge.
Downside is that it makes it impossible to perform the regular coolant check.
Had to ask my dealer to leave it just finger tight when it came back last time.
Read somewhere that the Leven set of filler caps are very pretty & much easier to remove, retailing at approx £150.

It has happened twice in 9 months, it is a light drip leading to a pool, not a stream. (My day-to-day car does the same thing occasionally) The TVR's most recent, more prolific water leak was due to overfilling with coolant, perhaps the previous owner of your car overdid the fluids before you got it? Have you thought about tasting the water that's coming out to check it doesn't containt coolant?
I am happy to hear about this, because it means the airco is actually working!
On my Grif I also had airco, but I have always doubted whether it worked or not. (And I heard I was not the only one)Since I will drive the Tuscan on a regular bas I am pleased to read this.

got the same thing. Been told by previous owner that it's probably just a dried out seal. Going into Kerridges on 7th June to get fixed.
Mine sort of doesn't leak when driving, but about 30 seconds after you switch it off, it dumps a coffee cup of water out under engine.
As for cap.. mine is like that. I reckon it's because of the leak.. it creates a vaccuum sucking cap on.
Get a set of mole grips round it and it'll come off ok...just watch the paintwork.. use a rag or summit round it.

Quick way to check if where the water's from. See what it tastes like. Sugary glycol flavour will tell you if it's coolant (and also tell you to spit it out pronto!)
Tasteless water will either be from condensation fron aircon exchanger, overfilled screenwash or normal 'run off' from washing or rain.
In the early days, I was getting a blue coloured puddle caused by water stashing itself between the double skin at the trailing edge of the cheesegrater and the bodywork. I can only surmise the blue was dust washed out from the build.
By the way, if the puddle tastes like gin, beer, wine, whisky, vodka, put a tray underneath the car and call me when it's full!
